UPDATED -> New Tilt-Shift adapter from Hino (MicroFourThirds)

The japanese company “Hino” produced a new Tilt-Shift adapter for MicroFourThirds cameras. Their website is in japanese only that’s why I can’t tell you how you can buy the lens. May some of our japanese readers can help us?
UPDATE: Chief Noda made us a better translation of the text. It is available here: http://www.chiefnoda.com/temporary/ts/
Thanks Chief!

March 10, 2010 |Hello,
The website states that the company was planning to release the product in March 2010 but has been extended to within 2010, meaning it is still under development (so you are right, they don’t tell you how you can buy it yet). It also says that the product may change by the time they release it.

March 10, 2010 |It’s actually an adapter to use FourThirds lenses and add a TiltShift function. It’s not available yet, they apologize for changing the release date from March 2010 to “2010″. Their other products are sold directly and on Yahoo Auctions (there is no ebay in Japan).

March 10, 2010 |1. It is not a Tilt-Shift lens but Tilt-Shift adapter for Four Third Lens and M43 mount camera
2. Contact pins are supported thus control of AF and etc from camera is possible

March 10, 2010 |Hmmm when I can buy one of those I will add a M4/3 camera to my camera bag.

March 10, 2010 |You should rename this site to micro-43rumors.com.

March 10, 2010 |Man, I love Google Translate sometimes. The actual price will be less than ¥40,000 (around US$450 right now), not “less than ¥4,000,000.” Good to hear it won’t cost as much as a used car!

March 10, 2010 |Sorry, 4 million yen?
Dwight
March 10, 2010 |4 million yen is about $44,000. I assume that’s an error or some sort of humor that didn’t make it thru the Google translation.

March 10, 2010 |ooops at that price I might want 10 of them

March 10, 2010 |This would make a great deal of sense if used with “legacy” lenses because of their much larger image circles. It could be very interesting, indeed. It certainly bears watching.

March 11, 2010 |Knowing that the aspect ratio is 4:3, there’s less risk of vigneting with vertical shifts using the adapter, since you may still stay within the image circle of the lens.
But only a real test will reveal if there is a problem or not. The Sigma FT lenses might be inintially developed for APS-C, thereby having a somewhat larger image circle than FT lenses.
While loosing both the aperture and focus properties, still old manual lenses can be used, so there’s nothing new. Performance will certainly be better with the modern lenses made for the FT mount. Vigneting might be a risk in some cases though.

March 11, 2010 |A T/S-function for Four-Third-Lenses? It is not useless at all, but very restricted, because the image circle of most lenses is only good for minor changes. Especially the wide-angle lenses do not offer such capabilities. It will definitly work with the longer lenses, so perhaps some studio photographers might be pleased to use it there. But for me, the most interesting field is architekture and landscape, I think I have to stay with my second system for these works. Too bad.

March 11, 2010 |Hi Folks
The price is not yet available but the page said “less than 40,000 yens”, which is about 440 US$. Not cheap but not too bad.
They claim it works with any micro4/3 lens, but recommends lens that weighs less than 500 grams (about 1.1 pounds)
The Tilt and Shift movement is vertical direction only.
The Hino Sensakusho (Workshop?) designs parts and accessories for camera, audio and motorbikes! They sell nice stick-on sheets for EP-1/EP-2

I did translate the TS page to http://www.chiefnoda.com/temporary/ts
You would probably want to save it as I don’t plan to keep it around for long.
Cheers

March 11, 2010 |I wonder what lens you would use it with. There isn’t a widish 4/3 prime to use. The 25 mm pancake maybe, but for T/S you really want at least 35 mm equivalent. So 17 mm or wider. I suppose you could use the 9-18 or the 11-22, but how well would a zoom work?
Personally I would prefer the italian tilt adapter which uses OM lenses (or Nikkor, among others)

March 11, 2010 |When this thing is released I see the sales of Sigma 10-20mm going up. This Four thirds lens wasn’t bad, has full contacts and gives you 20mm to 40mm for shifts. Not bad at all!

March 11, 2010 |I wonder nobody notices the fact that it is the world first 3rd party AF adapter.
If you have E-P series or the new G2 or G10, you can use AF with the Olympus ZD 7-14mm lens.

March 12, 2010 |@Agent00soul:
I didn’t know there were other tilt and/or shift adapters for mFT around. Do you know the name and maybe the website of the italian adapter you mention ? Thanks a lot
@Admin:
That would be great to have a list of tilt and/or shift adapters available for mFT, with links to the website and/or e-Bay like what you did for ultra-fast primes. Thanks in advance
